What is Invisalign?
Invisalign treatment is a series of clear, custom aligners that straighten your teeth without traditional braces.
Based on a personalized treatment plan, your series of custom aligners will be created to fit your teeth during each stage of your treatment.
How does Invisalign work?
Invisalign's aligners are designed to move your teeth by tiny increments during your treatment.
Simply wear each aligner in your series for about two weeks and then replace it with the next one in your series. You will follow this process until your treatment is complete, and your straighter new smile has been achieved.
How long does Invisalign take?
Only your dentist can determine the length of your Invisalign treatment. Issues such as the misalignment of your teeth and jaw, the shape of your bite, and the amount of movement required to correct your issues can all affect the treatment process.
What are Invisalign aligners made of?
Invisalign aligners are made with USP Class VI medical-grade, high molecular weight, polyurethane resins, and are BPA free.
How often will I need to visit the dentist?
Since Invisalign aligners do not require any adjustments, you will only need to visit the dentist for appointments about every six weeks during your treatment.
At these appointments, your dentist will review your progress and general oral health and answer any questions you may have.
What are the primary features of Invisalign?
Invisalign aligners are:
- Discreet and barely noticeable
- Smooth and comfortable
- Removable for eating, drinking, brushing and flossing
How much does Invisalign treatment cost?
The cost of Invisalign treatment depends on your individual case. For example, the more severe your misalignment issues, the more aligners you will need and the more treatment will cost. Often, the cost of Invisalign treatment is comparable to that of traditional metal braces.
How will Invisalign fit my lifestyle?
Most patients find that Invisalign clear aligners fit very comfortably into their daily lives. Because you can remove them for eating, drinking, brushing and flossing, there are no dietary or lifestyle restrictions. And because of their discreet, clear design, many people won't even notice you're wearing them.
Are there any food or drink restrictions?
No, because you can take Invisalign aligners out to eat and drink, you can continue to enjoy all the foods and drinks you love!
How many sets of aligners will I need?
Your dentist can give you an accurate estimate of how many aligners you need and how long your treatment will take based on your specific case.
Is Invisalign suitable for adults?
Yes! Anyone who has healthy teeth and gums is a potential candidate for Invisalign.
Can teenagers use Invisalign?
Yes! Teens can certainly be candidates for Invisalign. In fact, Invisalign has a line of aligners tailored to the needs of teenagers, offering the following additional features:
- Compliance indicators that fade away after the aligners have been worn for two full weeks
- Stageable eruption tabs that provide space for second molars as they grow in
- 6 sets of replacement aligners to help reduce the treatment delays that can result from lost or broken aligners
How often do I have to change my aligners?
Typically our patients switch to their next set of aligners about every two weeks. Your dentist can tell you exactly how often you should switch out your aligners based on your personalized treatment plan.
How do I clean my aligners?
- Rinse your aligners under cool running water each time you remove them.
- Soak your aligners using denture cleaner, Retainer Brite, and/or the official Invisalign cleaning crystals.
- Brush and floss your teeth before you put your aligners back in.
- Gently brush your aligners with a clear, anti-bacterial soft soap, and then rinse them off.
Can I play sports or music with Invisalign?
Yes! You can simply remove your clear aligners while you play sports or to play an instrument, and put them back in when you're done.
How do I store my aligners?
Invisalign aligners will come with a storage case, and this is where you should keep them whenever you remove them to keep them safe.
